Hello Everyone! I’m finally back in Spain and getting back in touch with home! In the last 4 weeks, I’ve spent time in Colorado seeing my sister and visiting with my colleagues at USA Cycling. The last week, I spent in France with a touring group that I will be doing some contract work with. The whole thing is a whirlwind now and I will try to write a proper re-count when the volcano ash settles!

Hello All – I’ve just returned from a site inspection trip to St. Wendel for MTB Marathon Worlds 2010! This will be a cool event! The area is very beautiful with rolling hills, forest, and many lakes. The race itself starts South of the city in sporting complex. The view from the venue reminds you what European bike racing is all about. It is the same venue that has been used many times for CX World Cup and will feature in 2011 as the venue for CX World Championships.
The hotel I found for Marathon Worlds is typically German, meaning that everything is spotless and the food is outstanding! Working on setting the “sports” menu with the hotel and then we are ready to host riders in August. I’m very excited for this trip, as we will share our experiences of over 12 years in professional cycling with our clients. Logistics with be perfectly managed and all riders will experience support that we typically provide in World Championship events. Please see our trip announcement for more details: I hope to see you with us in Germany! CLICK HERE!

CARBON AND MORE CARBON!
February has been a great month for cycling here on the island! It has been non-stop for me. After returning from CX Worlds, I had a day or two to relax and then it was on to the Challenge. In the evenings, I helped out the Columbia Highroad Team. They are a first class organization with some of the best equipment I have ever seen! The Shimano D12 group is amazing! Really enjoyed my time with the guys and it looks like we will do some things in the future together.
The day after the Challenge ended, I spent the day with Jan, one of the mechanics, showing him around Palma from a locals perspective. We visited the market and bought some Mahon cheese, went to the local coffee roaster, viewed all the the historically significant buildings and churches and finally went for a real tapas lunch!
The next day, the British arrived in the Port and I help them get settled into the Palma Arena, where they did one of their last big tune-ups before the World Championships later in March.

Thanks to the Palma Arena and their staff for making this possible. We will be working to make Palma a destination for track training.
We are back from the Czech Republic! It was an awesome trip. The hotel, staff and riders were all excellent. The course was very challenging and especially when covered with the daily snows! It is strange to think that less than a week ago I was standing on snow watching the CX athletes slide around on the ice and snow and tomorrow we will be watching the 1st stage of the Mallorca Challenge. It is nearly shorts weather……look for photos from Czech on our Flickr accounts soon!
We are off to the Czech Republic to manage the USA Cyclocross Team. The forecast is for extremely cold temperatures, especially when you are coming from an island in Spain where the temperatures have been in the low 60’s F or 14 -16 C. Look for up-dated photos on Flickr and up-dates via our Twitter account.
We just had a couple of CX Riders escape Belgium for warmer training in Mallorca! Along with training, they got to experience a Tapas night in the old town called the “Ruta de Martians” and we found a 10 Euro all you can eat Italian place which made re-fuelling easy!
2009 is officially over! Let’s hope that we have many reasons to un-cork some champagne in 2010! We spent the holiday celebrating with family and friends, road riding and mountain biking. The weather was un-seasonably warm and most days were filled with Mediterranean sun! My favorite adventure of the holiday was a mountain bike excursion around a peak and up to 975 meters with beautiful sea views, ancient trails and many hours of hike-a-bike. Lesson learned: pick your mountain biking routes carefully.
Here it is our new and first run at a web-site and all the things that go along with it.
We have really enjoyed the challenge and the process of creating something like this. After all, our specialty and training is experience designing, trip logistics and planning, etc. As with our trips, we want you to have something different, more personal but yet an experience that exemplifies our professional abilities.
We hope you like the site, you see a trip that you like and one day you join us on one of our 3F Sports Experiences!
2009 was a busy year for us! We started the year forming our business here in Spain. It is not quite as easy as in the States and we lost count of the number of government offices we had to visit and get stamps from.
Ken managed teams for USA Cycling in Holland, South Africa, Australia and Switzerland. As well, we visited the US, Canada, South Africa, Italy, Belgium and Russia. Some of the highlights of the year:
- Having a good time with the Cross Team in Holland – just thawed out.
- Experiencing and meeting the great people in South Africa! Travelling there re-ignited Ken’s passion for travel.
- Seeing Donny Robinson win BMX Worlds in Australia!
- Site visit to Moscow! What a cool and dynamic place!
- MTB Worlds in Canberra, Australia. It is one of the most difficult events to manage, but when you work with such cool athletes and staff, it is an unbelievable experience.
- Road Worlds in Switzerland, well the Italian part of Switzerland! Swiss organization with Italian food and wine. Watching Kristin Armstrong win AGAIN and Tom Zirbel nearly medal in his first Road World Championships was incredible.
- Having my good friend Todd McKean visit and ride with us in Mallorca from China. Without Todd, Beijing would have been too hard!
